TCC in Vilanova i la Geltrú and Sitges
Since 1 July 1994, Transports Ciutat Comtal has been providing the urban transport service in Vilanova i la Geltrú. Vilanova y la Geltrú City Council is the contracting authority.
On 1 July 2006, this service was added to the integrated fare system alongside the intercity bus network and the Renfe, metro, bus andtram services in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, meaning that users can travel on the entire public transport system in Barcelona with a single travel pass and paying only once.
Since July 1998, Transports Ciutat Comtal has been providing the urban transport service in Sitges, which also forms part of the integrated fares system of the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM). Sitges City Council is the contracting authority.
Its fleet was renewed on 23 November 2011 and three new hybrid buses entered service to cover the three urban lines in the city. The new vehicles run on electricity and diesel, representing a firm commitment to reducing the company’s environmental impact and improving energy efficiency. The addition of these buses reflects a desire to foster electro-mobility. At the presentation ceremony, Josep Maria Martí said: “We are launching three blue buses that are very green inside”.
The Tempus model vehicles from Castrosua can carry 62 passengers, are very quiet when running off the electric motor and are fully accessible for persons with reduced mobility. In this regard, Transporte Ciudad Condal was a pioneer in the implementation of new technologies for transport.
