Sarbus Sant Cugat del Vallés
Sarbus has been operating the urban transport service in the city of Sant Cugat since 1982. It currently carries 1,070,000 passengers a year on nine lines that have constantly been adapted to meet the needs of a growing city.
Between 1998 and 2002, and up until the now renewed concession in 2003, Sarbus designed an urban transport technical improvement plan that, together with the subsequent investment plan, led to the signing of a new contract with the Sant Cugat del Vallés City Council.
The service designed in Sant Cugat adapts to meet the changes in demand from the local population. Its integrated fare system aims to encourage use of the group passenger transport service by informing the population about its advantages and connections to other modes of transport.
In 2012, Sant Cugat City Council launched a contactless card for travel passes based on modern technology. This card is easier to use and was a pioneer in Catalonia.
Since 2013, Sant Cugat has had an app that lets people check the entire urban bus service offer, the waiting times at each stop and a city map showing all available routes.
